Evening has been a sacred time ever since creation. A single verse in Genesis brings up before our imagination God’s walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze. The Fathers of the Church tell us that Adam spoke with God face to face and contemplated the Lord easily and with joy. In Psalm 141 we pray that our hands be lifted up in prayer like the evening sacrifice. In Psalm 48 the psalmist states that he can lie down in peace and sleep because the Lord alone makes him dwell in safety. In the Gospels we know that Jesus often spent whole nights in prayer. Three times a week My Sisters will email you a short evening prayer with a reading for a moment of contemplation. This evening prayer guide is free to whoever would like to receive it.
